The shunga picture measures 26.7 × 20.8 cm.  Very good colors and impressions.  Condition is decent+ with some age-related wear and soiling and a small amount of wormage.  Album backing.  Please see and judge condition from the photos.
 
A fascinating Kunisada shunga design featuring a wakashu sharing an intimate encounter with a female beauty while calmly pouring tea — a wonderfully playful juxtaposition of everyday refinement and erotic life. 
 
Wakashu occupied a distinctive place in Edo-period society and sexuality.  They are sometimes described by modern scholars as representing a “third gender.”  Neither simply equivalent to modern ideas of male or female identity, the wakashu had their own conventions of appearance, dress and social behavior.  Wakashu were also prominent on the early kabuki stage, where young male actors performed female roles and could become highly sought-after objects of desire for both male and female admirers, making their appearance in shunga an especially revealing window into the much more fluid sexual culture of Edo Japan.
