The Dildo Thief – Koikawa Shozan c.1858

A hilarious scene from Koikawa Shozan, and part of the same notorious mid-19th-century grotesque shunga series, (Ridiculous Things/Warai nogu oheso ga cha).
 
A woman recoils in surprise as her cat scampers away with her striped harigata (dildo), proudly dragging it by the tassel like a prized catch.  The startled expression, rich patterns, and clever visual storytelling make this one of the most lighthearted and memorable images in the series — blending eroticism with pure comedic timing.
 
Measures 12 cm x 18.1 cm.  Very good colors and impressions.   Condition is fair+/decent with some wear, soiling, creasing at top corners, few pinholes.  Please see and judge from the photos provided.
