A striking latter Meiji Period (c.1900) shunga interpretation inspired by Torii Kiyonaga’s celebrated shunga close-up scene from Sode no maki (The Sleeve Scroll, 1785). The unusually long, narrow composition closely recalls Kiyonaga’s famous original, while the simplified drawing and bold Meiji-era colors give the scene a distinctly later character. Artist is anonymous. 
 
Measures 16.5 cm x 6 cm.  Very good colors and impressions.  Very good condition with mild wear.  No backing.  Please refer to photos.
