Rare - 18th C. - Japanese Hanging Scroll - Tiger

SKU : jhv667

Original & Rare Japanese Hand-Painted Hanging Scroll (Kakejiku) of a LARGE & magnificent tiger (tora)

Date:  Edo Period, late 18th C. (late 1700s)

Artist:  Of the Nagasaki School, more specifically the Nanpin School, which was the art name of Chinese painter, Shen Quan.

Title of Scroll:  Mokozu (Ferocious Tiger)

Description: 100% Japanese genuine & authentic original kakejiku (hanging scroll).  Fantastic hand-painted artwork (this is not a print nor machine copy) of a HUGE tiger mounted onto an elaborate green silk scroll!  The pictures don't really do it justice as they simply cannot capture its true size.  This is simply museum-worthy artwork!

Condition is good for its age with a bit of wear here and there, but overall nothing serious.  The worst of it is a tiny hole at the top left of the scroll away from the artwork itself.  Please see and judge from photos.

Size of entire scroll:  194 cm x 66 cm

Size of picture only:  109 cm x 52 cm

No wooden box for this scroll.

A fantastic and very rare antique Japanese hanging scroll depicting a magnificent-looking tiger!  The beauty and sheer size of the artwork would no doubt make for a stunning conversation piece at the home, office, gym or dojo.  It truly is a brilliant piece of Japanese antiquity!
