Nanpin was renowned during his lifetime as a stellar artist and his influence lasted a lifetime in both China and Japan. During his brief two years in Japan, he accumulated students at a rapid pace, teaching the locals his methods, mainly bird and flower art. Amongst his many esteemed disciples was the famous Japanese artist, Kumashiro Yuhi, who created the celebrated and illustrious Nanpin School once his master returned to his native country. In turn, this famous school also produced the likes of the following revered artists: Okyo Maruyama, Ito Jakuchu, So Shiseki, Kakutei, etc.
