A powerful and uncommon composition (larger females are rarely presented in shunga artwork), set before a screen painted with an aged pine and distant Fuji.  Senju presents a scene of deep surrender and devotion, reversing the typical balance of roles found in classical shunga.  The figures’ intertwined forms create a sculptural rhythm, while warm skin tones and soft interior textures keep the intensity grounded in elegance.  It is a striking study in sensual reversal — bold in subject, controlled in line, unmistakably Senju.
 
Rendered in muted pastels and warm neutrals, this new edition features enhanced color richness, greater line clarity, and increased contrast, heightening the gentle play of texture and tone that defines Senju’s modern shunga aesthetic.  The result is a serene yet provocative image—both a celebration of life’s pleasures and a meditation on their ephemeral nature.
